Why this practice exists

Most people who call this office are not in trouble with the law in the way television suggests. They are working. A truck driver picked up a 15-over on the Thruway and just learned that two more points would put a serious hold on the only license that pays the mortgage. A sales rep who drives the Route 787 corridor every day got a second cell phone ticket and is watching an insurance renewal climb. A carrier's safety manager is looking at a roadside inspection report and wondering what it will do to a CSA score.

Those problems are technical, deadline-driven, and easy to make worse by paying a fine online. The firm was built to handle exactly that category of case: high-volume in filing terms, high-stakes in personal terms, and almost entirely about protecting a driving record rather than avoiding jail.

How cases are actually handled

Every matter starts with the citation itself — the charged subsection, the court, the return date, and how the officer measured what he says he measured. From there the analysis turns to consequences: the New York point total, whether the charge is a federally reportable serious traffic violation for a CDL holder, what a New Jersey conviction would do to reciprocity, and whether an employer must be notified.

Only then does strategy make sense. Sometimes it is a negotiated reduction to a non-point or non-reportable charge. Sometimes it is a trial where the officer's measurement, calibration records, or observation distance simply will not hold up. Sometimes the honest advice is that the ticket is minor and not worth fighting — and you will hear that too.

Practicing in those courts week after week produces something no statute book gives you: a realistic sense of what each jurisdiction will and will not do.
